让人上瘾 Behaviors Counseling and Prevention

的 让人上瘾 Behaviors Counseling and Prevention (ABCP) 程序 meets the 教育 requirements of the 让人上瘾 Disorders Regulatory Authority (ADRA) by incorporating the 12-Core Functions of Addiction Counseling. All SUNO ABCP classes can be applied toward certification by ADRA. Available certificates include Counselor in Training (CIT), Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC), 认证 Addiction Counselor (CAC), and 认证 Prevention Professional (CPP). 的 academic coursework equips students for professional careers as addiction counselors, 情况下经理, addiction treatment program supervisors, and inpatient and outpatient addiction treatment professionals.

的 Bachelor of Science degree program prepares students for professional careers and advanced academic study. 让人上瘾 Behaviors Counseling and Prevention majors must complete 39 credit hours in addiction counseling 教育. Th e following are required ABCP courses: 215, 230, 310, 321, 325, 418, 425(x2), 432, 494, and three ABCP electives. This schedule gives students a strong foundation and the opportunity to choose electives that will complement their specific career goals. 两个实习 experiences (ABCP 425) are required. 

的 Associate of Arts degree meets the needs of professionals who wish to enhance employment opportunities by concentrating study in a specific area of addiction counseling or as a specialization for 让人上瘾 Behaviors Professionals. 的 Associate of Arts degree requires the following ABCP courses: 215, 230, 310, 321, 325, 425, and two ABCP electives. In addition, students must complete the appropriate general academic and elective courses to complete the degree requirements. A minimum of 62 hours are required, including 24 hours in the major area and 38 general academic hours. One internship experience (ABCP 425) is required.

的 学生 for the Prevention and Education of Substance Abuse Club (SPESA) is committed to increasing the drug awareness level of the students, faculty, and staff of the Southern University of New Orleans and the community. Because drugs adversely affect individuals (and systems) physically, emotionally, and spiritually, we aim to educate individuals concerning drug use and develop strategies that prevent alcohol and other drug use from becoming a problem.

Promoting and supporting the SOUN ABCP program and other social service program connecting students with community resources. We aim to create a safe space for students to discuss drugs and drug use as we grow in effectiveness and understanding promoting treatment and prevention of substance abuse on campus and for the community at large.
